FURNITURE AND PROPERTY LIST: ACT 1, SCENE 1.

ACT 1, SCENE 1.
On stage: SITTING-ROOM:
Settee. On it: 2 shabby cushions.
2 matching armchairs.
Wooden chair.
Ornate armchair with carved arms. Wardrobe. In it: piece of wood.
Sink (practical). In it: basin, cloth. On draining-board: various items of crockery, etc. as dressing.
2 gas rings (1 practical).
Gas fire (practical). Beside it: meter with coins.
Cupboard. On and in it: toasting—fork, crockery and cutlery, tins and bottles of food, bread, butter. Above it: shelves with dressing.
On walls: hooks.
Window curtains.
Carpet.

BEDROOM:

2 small beds with bedding.
Small table between beds. On it: lamp. In drawer: pair of gold cufflinks.
Chest.
On wall: hooks with coathanger.
Carpet.
Off stage: 2 suitcases, one with clothing, pyjamas, towel, books, toilet articles, large Bible (Noel).
Suitcase with clothing, towel, etc. (Philip).
Table (Rooksby).
Personal: Rooksby: cigarettes, lighter

ACT 1, SCENE 2.

Set: Bedroom tidy.
Books and papers on armchair, settee and table.

ACT 1, SCENE 3.

Set: Saucepan or pot with coffee on gas ring.
Mugs, spoons, sugar, butter, knives, plates on table.
Radio on mantelpiece.
Bread and toasting-fork by fire. Book by fire.
Towel on settee arm.
Off stage: Newspaper (Philip).
Mallet and wooden peg (Rooksby).

ACT 2, SCENE 1.

Strike: Coffee mugs, crockery, etc. Tidy flat generally.
Set: Several books open on table. Ceremonial assegais and spear on wall.

ACT 2, SCENE 3.

Off stage: Brace and bit (Rooksby). Smoking piece of wood (Rooksby).
LIGHTING PLOT: Property fittings required: pendant, table lamp between beds. A sitting-room and bedroom. The same scene throughout.

To open: General effect of dull daylight.

To open: All interior lighting on.
Cue 1: Philip turns out sitting-room light. Snap out pendant and covering spots.
Cue 2: Philip switches on sitting-room light. Return to opening lighting.
Cue 3: Philip switches off sitting- room light. Snap out pendant.
Cue 4: Philip switches off bed lamp. Snap out all interior lighting.
Cue 5: Philip switches on bed lamp. Return to Cue 3.
Cue 6: Philip turns out bed lamp. Return to Cue 4.
Cue 7: Philip turns on bed lamp. Return to Cue 5.

ACT 1, SCENE 3. Day.

To open: General effect of morning light.
